Definition

r, R^2, and s are statistical measures used to assess the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two variables.

Analogy

Think of r as a "relationship score" that tells you how well two variables get along. R^2 is like the "compatibility percentage" that shows how much of the variation in one variable can be explained by the other variable. And s is like the "standard deviation" of this relationship, measuring how spread out the data points are around the regression line.
